Never trust the Critics, Netflix's 'Extinction' Is One of the Greatest Sci-Fi Movies of All-time [Spoiler Free Review]

‘Extinction’ is one of the latest releases on Netflix that will blow your mind with its unique idea. Undoubtedly, this sci-fi thriller took the Alien Invasion genre to a new level. Sorry critics, if you are dumping ‘Extinction’, you must be an amateur in the Sci-fi world. ‘Extinction’ directed by Ben Young is based on a crazy ‘What If’ theory and surely it knows its audience. ‘Black Mirror’ fans will love this movie for the twist. Unlike other sci-fi thrillers, I can’t reveal much about the plot as I don’t want to spoil the movie for you.

‘Extinction’ is getting mixed reviews mainly because of its low-quality special effects and shallow character development however if you are a science fiction fan, you will love this movie for its great plot twist, mainly the idea. The acting is subtle however it could have been better.  Netflix has access to millions of user data and they are aware of our binging habits. From crime thrillers like Breaking Bad, Narcos to gripping Sci-fi like Black Mirror, Altered Carbon, Netflix knows its audience more than we know ourselves hence ‘Extinction’ will very much satisfy the cravings of an avid Sci-fi fan. There will be lots of discussions around the plot but right now, we can’t reveal the plot of this whimsical sci-fi fantasy thriller.

‘Extinction’ is simple yet it is different and the beauty lies in its ability to deal with the forthcoming Singularity. Without revealing the story, I would like to recommend this movie to all the Science Fiction fans out there. This movie is contemporary. On a philosophical level, the movie questions few intriguing questions about the Man versus Machines, it also exploits the darkness associated with the tech overdose, it’s hopeful yet it never promises a utopia. The movie becomes extremely interesting after a few minutes of clichés. ‘Extinction’ will make you think and it will stay in your mind for a few days for sure.
